Ferry information
Surat Thani - Koh Samui By Ferry
The ferry transfer is included in the bus fare because the bus uses the ferry. On the island the bus first stops at the ferry pier and then at Nathon Pier.
About 1 hour and a half to Koh Samui, can contain vehicles, small snack bar inside, full of seats and an "air-conditioning" cabin.

There are two companies which provide sea transfer from Suratthani (Donsak Pier):
- Raja Ferry departure from Donsak Pier arrival at Lipanoi pier
- Seatran Ferry departure from Donsak Pier arrival at Nathon pier

Desitnations
Chumporn
The port city of Chumphon, considered the "Gateway to the south" is located on the Gulf some 463 km south of Bangkok. The total area is 6,069 square kilometers. Being the first southern province to be reached from every other part of the country, Chumphon is regarded as a gateway through which southbound visitors will have to pass before continuing on their routes to the western or eastern coasts. Chumphon is not only famed for its abundant seafood, but also known as a province of succulent fruits with various marvelous attractions like beaches, islands, forests and caves.
Koh Tao
Koh Tao is a very beautiful island. The first travelers came here in the early 80's, and soon the divers found it too. Diving prices are still ok or even low on Koh Tao but shopping here is not a great idea. Sairee Beach is the longest beach on Koh Tao. About 3 kilometers long on the west coast. Chalok Beach is a shallow beach in a bay. You'll find it in the south part of Koh Tao. Tanote Bay is in the east of the island. It is a little hard to get there but it is a very beautiful bay and it is great for your snorkeling. Other beaches and bays are: Aow Leuk, Sai Tong, Hin Wong, and Rocky bay. I recommend you to buy the book "Thailand's islands and beaches" by Lonely Planet.
Koh Nang Yuan
Koh Nang Yaun contains of three small islands connected by a "double sided" white beach in the middle. On the middle island, this also is the smallest. Located on a small private island near Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Nang Yuan is a vision of paradise. Beauty takes your breath away. Atmosphere is so extraordinary it makes you want to remain a well-kept secret only for you and your closest friends. Diving and snorkeling is great here with many good diving sites; Twin Peak, White Rock and Green Rock. There are also other activities such as rock climbing (be very careful though), kayaking and canoeing available on Koh Nang Yuan.
Koh Phangan
Koh Phangan Another large island covering an area of 191 square kilometers is 60 minutes directly north of Ko Samui. The island offers few comforts and can be explored by motorcycles. Hat Thong Sala, the major community of the island, is where the ferry landing and shops are located. In addition to white sandy beaches, there are also two beautiful waterfalls: Namtok Phang and Namtok Than Sadet, 4 kms. and 30 kms. from Hat Thong Sala, respectively. There is a mountain top temple called Wat Khao Tham where mediators may go for practice.
Koh Samui
Koh Samui Has a nice ring to it doesn't it? Koh Samui (occasionally spelled Ko Samui) is an island of natural beauty and charm, a place where you can have your holiday anyway you like it, kicked back and relaxed or active and fast paced. Beautiful white sand beaches, clean, clear warm water; lush tropical gardens and gentle ocean breezes await you at this ideal holiday destination. If you love the beach, this is the place for you!
Moo Koh Ang Thong
Moo Koh Ang Thong National Park This marine park comprises some 40 islands northwest of Ko Samui and covers an area of 250 square kilometers of which 50 square kilometers is land mass. Most is lands comprise limestone masses reaching heights of up to 400 meters and fringed by beaches and tropical rain forest. The park office is located on Ko Wua Ta Lap. Popular attractions include a high viewpoint, secluded beaches, Tham Bua Bok - a beautiful cave with spectacular stalactite and stalagmite formations, and an emerald saltwater lake known as Tale Nai on Ko Mae Ko, which entails a strenuous climb. Another popular venue is Ko Sam Sao where an extensive span of coral reef and huge rock arch offers scenic views. A one-day tour package to Mu Ko Ang Thong is organized by some travel agents on Ko Samui.

The Express Boat
Songserm Ferries run a regular service between Suratthani and Nathon. (The 13.30 Songserm express boat is the current scheduled service). Long rather narrow boat, lots of backpackers but which has its charm and all the transfers are easy.
The Speed Boat
Expensive but very fast (Koh Tao-Koh Phan-Ngan = 45 minutes, normal boat = 2 hours). Use a lot from Koh Tao or by various daytrips tours and some diving schools.
